Last May, my dad ~Lanse1921 gave me the collection of cameras he had acquired over the years (minus his current one, mind you).
This Welta Weltur with its Zeis F/2.8 lens and Compur-Rapid 1/400 shutter is the camera I most associate with him. Goodness knows he took enough slides with it of me and my five brothers and sisters and, of course, his lovely bride *WoodAster.
This afternoon, Corky and I stopped by Scott's Photo on the way home so I could pick up some film to put the camera back in service. I got one roll of color 400VC and one black and white 400TX. I loaded up the black and white for the first go around.
Now I just have to figure out how to coax good photography out of this totally mechanical gem. It's a whole new world.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be loved as to love,
to be understood as to understand.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. (St. Francis of Asisi)
